Protecting your loved ones

If you die while you’re a member of the Scheme, there may be some benefits payable to your dependants. It’s up to the Trustee to decide who receives any cash lump sum death benefits, but your wishes will normally be followed.

That means it’s really important that you complete an Expression of Wish form which lets the Trustee know who you’d like to receive any payments – and keep your wishes up to date if your circumstances change.

The easiest way to do so is via the Member Portal. You’ll find the Expression of Wish page under “See” and then “Expression of Wish” in the menu. Why not have a look today and make sure the right people are listed?

If you’d rather complete a paper form, you can request one from the administration team using the details on the contact page.

How to notify us of a death

If you need to notify us of the death of a member of the Scheme, you should contact the administration team.

We want to be able to pay any death benefits as quickly as possible as we understand this is likely to be a difficult time. To help with that, you'll need to provide certain information - so we suggest that you make sure you have the following documents before getting in touch:

  • Original or certified copy of death certificate
  • Marriage or civil partnership certificate if appropriate
  • Birth certificates of any dependent children who may be entitled to benefits
